Accessibility Statement
Last updated:
Jenny BSN RN is committed to ensuring that mommaleo.com is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that access to information — especially independent research and public health content — should not be gated by barriers of any kind.
Our Commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, or other assistive technologies.
What We've Done
Steps we have taken to improve accessibility on this site:
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3) on every page
- All images include descriptive alt text; purely decorative images use empty alt attributes
- Color contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA minimums for normal and large text
- All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are keyboard-navigable and have visible focus indicators
- Navigation landmarks (header, main, nav, footer) are properly labeled with ARIA attributes
- Form inputs are associated with labels; error messages are descriptive
- The shopping cart and checkout flow are operable by keyboard
- Time-based content (dates, timestamps) uses the HTML <time> element with machine-readable dateTime attributes
- The site does not use content that flashes more than three times per second
- Page titles are unique and descriptive on every route
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility may be limited and are actively working to improve them:
- The embedded X (Twitter) timeline widget is a third-party embed and may not be fully accessible; a direct link to @MommaLeo on X is provided as an alternative
- Some older research documents linked from The Observatory are hosted on Zenodo as PDFs; PDF accessibility varies by document
- The Perplexity-hosted Consciousness Studies Register is a third-party tool; its accessibility is subject to Perplexity's own standards
- Video content linked from the Watch page is hosted on YouTube; captions and accessibility features are managed by YouTube
Assistive Technology Support
This site has been tested with the following combinations:
- NVDA + Chrome on Windows
- VoiceOver + Safari on macOS and iOS
- Keyboard-only navigation on Chrome and Firefox
Feedback and Contact
We take accessibility feedback seriously. If you encounter a barrier on this site, or if a page or feature is not accessible to you, please let us know. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within five business days and to resolve substantive issues within 30 days where technically feasible.
To report an accessibility issue, use the contact form on our About page and select "Accessibility" as the inquiry type.
Formal Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the relevant accessibility enforcement body in your jurisdiction. In the United States, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
Ongoing Effort
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checklist. We review this statement and audit the site for accessibility issues on a regular basis. This statement was last reviewed on .
